Room 9’s Beautiful Vases

The pupils in Room 9 recycled plastic bottles and made beautiful, colourful vases which can be used for holding flowers. Our pupils selected the colours they wanted to use and made choices about how to paste the cellophane onto the bottles. In doing so, the boys and girls were reinforcing the skills they developed previously when they made their Elmer the Elephant models. They commented on their work and were encouraged to comment on each other’s vases when they were on display in our classroom.

The Greatest Showman in Room 12

Room 12 thoroughly enjoyed their Greatest Showman themed drama lesson. Drama Sam had brought in some fantastic props for us to use and we had great fun displaying our skills with hoops and ribbons! It just so happens that The Greatest Showman is a favourite with some of our classmates, so we know the songs quite well. We were dancing, singing and acting being circus performers, and that wasn’t just the pupils…!

Papier Mache In Room 4

The children in Room 4 have been creating their own colour amongst the stars.  They used papier mache to make planets and then decorated them in different colours.

Raising Money for Comic Relief

Our amazing Makaton Choir, dancers and drummers  had great fun entertaining the whole school with their favourite songs as a fundraiser for Comic Relief.

We are also raising money through our World Book Day Book and DVD trolley and all the money received will be donated to Comic Relief. Total raised so far is £240.

The students and staff in Howes Hoose have also been busy selling red noses around the school. They have raised an amazing £90 and they have donated a further £50 from their soup making enterprise. A huge well done to everyone in Howes Hoose for their total of £140! (Photos to follow!)

Creating Colourful Art In Room 9

Room 9 pupils have really enjoyed our topic this term – Our Colourful World. We have made Elmer the Elephants using recycled materials, we are currently re-using plastic bottles and turning them into colourful vases and recently we did self-portraits. Our portrait gallery is on display outside our classroom for other pupils and adults to enjoy.

Room 10 Experiment With Oil Paint

We have been playing with oil paints in class just to see how strong and vibrant the colours are. The paints were quite smelly, but the final work was fabulous.

Active Schools Dance Competition

On Thursday 28th of February our Dance Team took part in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Active Schools Dance Competition at Mackie Academy. They had a wonderful evening, enjoying all the support from all those taking part and watching the event. They may not have won however they were acknowledged by the judges for their musicality and enthusiasm.

Drama in Room 11

Children in Room 11 have been enjoying drama sessions with Sam. This week’s theme was musicals. We have been listening to a various songs such as “Good Morning” by Debbie Reynolds and “Singing in the rain” by Gene Kelly.

All children loved dancing to the music and enjoyed sensory experience such as feeling rain (we used plastic bottles to squirt water) and wind (sensory umbrella).

A Musical Visit

Yesterday afternoon, we were extremely fortunate to have had a visit from Mary Raunikar Page and her harp.  We had a great time listening to her play the harp and there was lots of fun as we all had the opportunity to explore the instrument and make our own music.
