Aberdeen City Libraries

Aberdeen City Libraries have introduced an appointment based Click and Collect service. Staff will provide a selection of books based on a family’s reading preferences, to collect on appointment. This means that families  will once again be able to benefit from borrowing items including children’s picture books, early readers and dual language books from Aberdeen City Libraries. You can find out more about how to access this service by following the link https://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/services/libraries-and-archives/click-and-collect.

 It is also not too late  to participate in Aberdeen Reads, their summer reading challenge, which runs until 29 August 2020. Anybody can participate as an individual or as a group. Everyone who registers for Aberdeen Reads will be entered into a prize draw. Taking part in the Challenge will support children to develop language and literacy skills by encouraging all kinds of reading – instructions, recipes, picture books, sharing stories with younger siblings. Many of the suggested challenges can be easily carried out as part of a daily routine and it’s a great way to encourage the whole family to read together. Information on the Challenge and how to register is on our website www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/aberdeenreads,

 Finally, Aberdeen City Libraries continue to provide a wide range of ebooks, eaudio books, ecomics, emagazines and online resources suitable for all ages and abilities. They are also delivering regular Bookbug sessions via their YouTube channel and Facebook page.

It All Began When I Said Yes (written by Simon Philip and illustrated by Annabel Tempest)

Sometimes saying yes is a brilliant thing. You can meet new people, discover amazing things, and go on exciting adventures . . . but not always.  When a gorilla named Gideon shows up at your house with lots of questions and some pretty bonkers requests, perhaps “yes” will lead to trouble, trouble, and maybe just a touch more trouble. One thing’s for sure – it definitely won’t be boring!

This is the last part of ‘Any Dream Will Do’ for us to learn before putting the whole song together tomorrow. The words are;

May I return,
to the beginning,
the light is dimming,
and the dream is too.

the world and I,
we are still waiting,
still hesitating
any dream will do.

Listening In The Forest

Emmeline has visited a forest and made a live recording of it for you all to listen to. She has also made up a little bingo type card for you to mark off anything you hear or that you can use when you next visit a forest!

Do you hear anything else in the forest?

Any Dream Will Do: Part 3 – Verses 3 and 4

Today we are going to be singing and signing verse 3 and 4 of ‘Any Dream will Do’. Here are the lyrics;

I wore my coat,
with golden lining,
bright colours shining
wonderful and new.

And in the East
the dawn was breaking
and the world was waking
Any dream will do.
