Gear Up! P.E.

We are promoting to wear P.E kit for physical well being classes. We encourage our pupils to change into their Sport wear which also helps our students through transitions and enables them to fully take advantage of the play/physical exercises.

Howes Road Nursery – Settling In and Term1

All our children in the Nursery at Howes Road have been busy settling in this term and have done a great job of it. Well done!

Over the past few weeks we have been walking in the local community, collecting interesting items that tell us Autumn is here. We have used our senses to explore them and been creative in using them for art and craft activities such as conker rolling and hedgehog making.

Introducing – Bucket Time! Room 9

In Room 9, we have been enjoying the wonders of Bucket Times. For some us, our Bucket Time experiences over the last few weeks have been our first experience of Bucket Time. We have been demonstrating our attention skills during Stage 1 of Bucket Time, and have been drawn to the different activities that have intrigued our sensory needs – we have enjoyed watching and listening to the different adult led activities in class.

We have been engaging so well in Stage 1 of Bucket Time that we have already progressed on to Stage 2 – we have been so focussed on the longer activities, and use our preferred communication to ask for “more!”.

We can’t wait to get our own hands messy, as well as demonstrate our turn taking skills, after the October holidays when we start Stage 3!

Hello everyone from Room 11!

We have been working on our ‘SuperTato’ Literacy. All the learners had great fun with sensory experiences such as mashing potatoes, cucumber eye masks and forehead masks for some and jelly art. This week we are making different coloured ice art.

Making some noise in Room 14

We play music with Scott, experimenting with different instruments and the sounds they make. One of our pupils is really fond of the drum sounds what this drum machine makes. We practice to identify emotions and how to recognise them. This will help us to better understand how others and we feel.

We are ordering the numbers from one to ten to practice our numeracy skills.

Parachutin’ n Bubblin’ in Room 15

Room 15 have had a great (and busy) start to the term. We’ve been playing lots of games with the parachute and had blown lots of bubbles! We’ve been creative and arty by painting on a huge piece of paper. We’ve done some experiments with some colourful results (lots of food colouring involved!). We’ve had a lot of fun and laughter as we’ve built new relationships within the class.

This week, we have been having lots of fun and getting a bit messy! We took off our socks and shoes and covered our hands and feet in paint before taking a walk around the classroom! The paint felt really cold and slippery between our toes and fingers! It was all worth it though as the end result looks awesome and shows us all taking steps together in our learning!`

Float or Sink? With Room16

We are looking at “Heavy and Light” in Numeracy through “Floating and Sinking”.

We took some classroom objects, predicted whether they would float or sink and plonked them into our basin of water. We then glued the results on to our worksheet.
