Rainbows

We’re still on the hunt for more rainbows to brighten up our day and to say thank you to everyone who is looking after us.  Here are some we’ve been sent this week.

Working Hard

We’ve been delighted to see how well some of our pupils have been working at home on continuing their learning.
Some have been enjoying spending time listening to stories…

…others have been working on the ‘story of the week’ activities from the website…

…developing their switch skills…

…practising their writing and spelling…

…and finding things to count out on their daily walks.

Getting Crafty

We love seeing how you are all exploring your creative side!

Making Music

It certainly looks like there has been lots of fun making music this week and playing along with the music videos on our website.

Life Skills

We’ve been very impressed with how busy you’ve all been in the kitchen – making cakes, biscuits, smoothies and bread!

And one young man enjoyed spending time outside in the sunshine giving the dollies a good bath!

Having Fun!

Whether you’ve been having fun outside, with your family, on your own or even with you favourite animals, we love seeing your smiles!

We can’t wait to see what you get up to next week!

We’re still on the hunt for more rainbows to brighten up our day and to say thank you to everyone who is looking after us.  Here are a couple we’ve been sent this week.

Being Independent And Developing Life Skills

We were all very impressed with this video, showing this pupil eating his apple independently!  Well done!

Other pupils have been busy baking – looks yummy!

Making Music

Many of our pupils have been busy joining in with the musical activities posted on the website while others have been creating their own musical fun!

Fun In The Sun

Some pupils made the most of the sunshine and had lots of fun outside! This included bouncing on the trampoline, playing in the garden, splashing in the pool, getting ready for some football and growing their own garlic.

Getting Crafty

We have enjoyed seeing all your artwork – what a creative bunch!

Messy Play

There’s nothing quite like making a mess to cheer everyone up – I mean you’ve got to keep your parents busy somehow!

Chilling Out

Sometimes however, the best thing is chilling out and spending time with each other!

We can’t wait to see what you all get up to next week.

Room 2 celebrate the 5th of November

Room 2 had great fun exploring the sounds that fireworks make by using instruments and popping and stamping on bubble-wrap!

Then we created our own fireworks pictures to show the different colours and patterns that fireworks make. We used a few different methods to make our beautiful pictures. Our favourite was definitely using the ‘fly swatter’s to stamp the paint onto the paper. We finished off our pictures by sprinkling some glitter on top.

Home Economics with Room 13

This week’s Home Economics lesson was very special for us in Room 13. It was the first time that all our students were able to attend a baking session – Altogether!

We all made porridge with Liz and then we all tasted our final results!

Some of us, mentioning no names, ate all our porridge! Very tasty too, I may add!

And not a sign of Goldilocks either!

Looking Back And Moving Forward With Room 8

The beginning of summer is upon us! As we head into the final stretches of the school year, everyone should take time to reflect on the highs and lows of the year. What worked? What flopped? How can you improve for next year? What from your old job will you bring to your new one? What must you definitely leave behind?

However, when we take time to reflect on our year and take stock of how we’ve grown and changed, we are more able to acknowledge the gifts of this passage and harvest our own learning for the future.

Let’s find out together our best moments.

Baking With Room 4

The children in Room 4 have been very busy making fruit scones in home economics.

They were supported to measure out the different ingredients using the scales and we all enjoyed taking turns at mixing the ingredients with a spoon.

We Are Keeping Healthy In Room 11

The children in Room 11 have been participating in a range of fun activities and learning how to keep healthy. They have been having fun at swimming, cooking and taking part in PE lessons. Some of them have been showing how competitive they are when playing curling.

All of them have been showing their responses to different smells and some of them have been very clear of what they like (mint, onion).

They have been having great fun exploring how their bodies work and what they can do when they really want and try.

Rainbow Fruit Kebabs In Room 5

Room 5 are reading The Rainbow Fish. One of our class celebrated a birthday. We enjoyed birthday cake and rainbow fruit kebabs for snack. We had red strawberries, green grapes and yellow banana on our kebabs.

Room 8 Meet Jack Frost

Room 8 have been enjoying this winter weather, inside and outside the classroom. We ventured out into the playground, well wrapped up, to experience how cold and frosty it has been. We brought snow back in with us to feel how cold it was and we watched as it melted during the day.

We dressed up in winter clothes during our winter singing and looked at ourselves in the mirror, just to see how good we looked!

During our art sessions we made ‘cold weather’ pictures using ‘cold’ colours. We used purple, white and blue balloons to print with. We also used the salad spinners to make colourful pictures which were cut into cosy socks, hats, gloves and scarves.

This week we made Jack Frost pictures. We had lots of different collage materials in white and silver to stick on and, of course, no Jack Frost is complete without plenty of glitter!

We all love a baking session in room 8 so this week we made ‘frosty’ cakes. We put in rice crispies and ‘snowball’ marshmallows, stirred it round and then added white chocolate. We then decorated the top with some edible ‘silver’ paper. Lots of tasting, smelling, and touching went on. We kept some for snack in school and took some home for our families to enjoy too.
