THANK YOU!

Did you know that today, the 20th of May, is National Thank A Teacher Day?

Here is a very special video to say a massive THANK YOU to all of our teachers who are supporting our pupils throughout this unusual and difficult time.

But as we all know, Orchard Brae would simply not be Orchard Brae without the rest of team, so thank you to all of our Early Years Practitioners, Pupil Support Assistants, instructors and specialists, nursing and Admin team, janitorial and catering staff and last but by no means least, our families who allow us the privilege of working alongside your wonderful children every day.

So today is not just for teachers, it’s for all of you too.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you do.

Secondary Update

We hope that you’re all doing well and surviving life in ‘lockdown’. Thank you for sending us updates from home and replying to our e-mails. We do enjoy hearing from you and are always happy to have feedback on what activities young people are enjoying at home in order that we can provide suitable resources and activities. Please remember that we’re here to support you and welcome contact; everyone is missing school!

Some of our families have been sharing some lovely photos from home. If you’d like us to share photographs on the website please let us know. These should be sent to your child’s class teacher via their G-Mail account.

The following website is worth a look as there are lots of fun sites for online learning and activity:

Online Safety

We are absolutely delighted with the positive responses and feedback we are getting via our social media platforms. However, can we please remind everyone that to ensure the online safety of our young people, and in keeping with local authority and government guidance, please do not use or refer to pupil’s names in your comments. You are more than welcome to use initials should you wish.

Busy, Busy, Busy

We are missing seeing all our pupils every day and we love to see what you’ve been up to.  Here are a few photos that have been shared with us.

If you have anything you would like to share please email: adunnett@aberdeencity.gov.uk or send them to us via the school Facebook Messenger or your child’s class teacher.

We look forward to seeing all your activities and adventures!

Rainbows

The rainbow has become a significant symbol  during this uncertain time and many people have been making rainbows to display in their windows and share with their community. Some of our pupils have been busy making their own rainbows to share.

Rock Painting

Have you seen any painted rocks when you’ve been out on a walk?  Here are some that were found by our pupils as well as some they and their families have painted.

Getting Crafty

Some pupils have been very busy and had a go at making things at home although we’re not too sure if the baking was a success!

Having Fun In The Sun

We’ve been so lucky to have had lots of lovely sunny days.  Have a look at some of the fun things our pupils and their families got up to enjoying their time outside.

POSTPONED: Friends of Orchard Brae 5k Fun Run

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19 our planned Fun Run is postponed until further notice. We will maintain contact with the City Events Team at Aberdeen City Council and hope that we can have our event at some time in the future. For now, our priority is to keep our school and wider community safe and well.
